              Karen

Karen Wilke,  Assistant Director
                     Director, Online Education
                     Marketing and Promotions

Karen brings writing expertise and a wealth of teaching experience from both the private and public sectors to The Writing Loft.  Although teaching writing has taken her all over the United States and abroad, she feels she has found home among the diverse writers of Northern California.  Karen is drawn to stories about great journeys and overcoming obstacles.  She enjoys working with writers who share her love of collaboration.  As a writer herself, she knows that no work is created in a vacuum.  It is only when words come up for air that they truly begin to live.

                Mimi

Mimi Shaha, Office Manager
                   Ghostwriter

Mimi left behind her life as a professional jazz and rock singer in Arizona to live on the California coast and has never looked back.   She eventually moved to Paradise, California where she now resides with her husband.  Mimi is a career student and has a passion for art in all of it forms--sculpting, poetry, music, and of course, writing.  She is particularly interested in working with writers on pieces of creative nonfiction and memoir.  Mimi is also dedicated to the creation of her own autobiographical novel, from which an excerpt, The Fan Dance, won first place in an esteemed Northern California writing contest.

Damian Hennington, Ghostwriter

Damian entered the writing world at an early age.  Acting as the Cyrano de Bergerac of his class, he won the hearts of many unsuspecting readers.  His writing, shaped by the diverse cultures he visited in his youth, is thick with image and edge.  Full of soul, Damian's words reflect his passion for sound and rhythm.  He is The Writing Loft's professional business writer.  He knows that great business writing must engage, even inspire, readers to take action.  His writing builds trust, holds interest and makes us ask, "How can I get one of those?" He enjoys helping small businesses and organizations make an impact on their communities.  On his days off, Damian can be found writing his memoir and relaxing to the sounds of Marvin Gaye, John Coltrane and everything in between.

Liz Higgs, Literary Intern

As part of her education Liz studied creative writing, photography and art history.  She is dedicated to her family and impresses us endlessly with her ability to balance it all.  She came to The Writing Loft to learn all she could about the craft of writing and the ins-and-outs of the publishing industry.  Liz enjoys reading fantasy, sci-fi and young adult fiction.  She is drawn to writers who share her interests: art, photography, parenting, and the science of the impossible.
